TEXT: Revelation 2:1-7
The Spirit of Truth
Author Of The Word
One Who Guides In All Truth
The Bearer Of All Revelation
Jesus said hear what He says "TO THE CHURCHES" John 16:13; 2 Peter 1:21
HE IS SAYING "OVERCOME!"
"He That Hath An Ear"
Jesus says he who hears to all seven churches
First three it is places before promise
Remaining four it follows
The spiritual ear is the heart and a hardened heart is the precursor of the ear that is deaf (Jeremiah 6:10; John 12:37-40)
To "hear" is not just to take information
To "hear" is to respond and obey to what is being said
The ear is the organ of RESPONSE
Jeremiah 6:10 asks "To WHOM CAN I SPEAK"
Revelation 2;7, 11, 17, 29; 3:6, 13, 22; 13:9 asks same thing
God is our father who HEARS US which is why idolatry so angers him!
What The Spirit Says To The Church
"Who has an ear" - ALL SEVEN LETTERS!
First three they are placed before the promise
Remaining four - they follow
The hardened heard is based upon a spiritually deaf ear! (Jeremiah 6:10, John 12:37-40)
The ear is the organ of response - to "HEAR" is to "OBEY"
To "HEAR" the word of God is one reaponds with faith and OBEYS!
Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 29;, 3:6, 13, 22;, 13:9
Those whose ears hear God's voice hear his message
Dumb idols have no ears for hearing!!
The ears in the OT deals with service
Deut. 15:12-18 established limit on one's service to a master (SLAVES)
When released the servant had a choice - stay or go
For the one who love their master the master woul take an AWL and push it through a servant earlobe into a door
That servant would then become a servant for LIFE
Pierced Ears symbolized the servant's choice to open his ear to OBEY his master (Exodux 21:6)
Christians are called to be people of pierced ears!
How TO Be An Overcomer
Overcometh mean "to him who gains the victory" or is a "conqueror"
Most say I can overcome with the Lord's help and think that is automatic
The believer CANNOT do this in himself
A willing mind and obedient heart is best on can do
All that's done must be a work of the holy spirit
It is why the believer is told to "walk after the spirit" (Romans 8:1-2)
