Sunday AM Service - The People Sat Down To Eat, And Rose Up To Play

Exodus 32:1-6 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters and bring them unto me. And all the people brake off the olden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD. And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

There is no greater idol that religious idolatry. Idols are the result of wrong faith, wrong leadership, and wrong worship.
A faulty walk with God will lead the believer away from The Cross of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit; a faulty worship will lead to strange fire; a faulty warfare will lead people to worship idols as Israel did at Mt. Sinai during a time of Moses being away 40 days.
Spiritual leadership was missing in Israel and strong leadership is missing in the Church today; We've outsourced the leadership to cult worship of personalities.
Without Moses being present, the people would cry, "Make us Gods." It has little changed!
Aaron will acquiesce to the demands of the people, as too much of the spiritual leadership does presently.
There are many Aaron's presently who try to do what the people wat, say what the people want said, proclaim what the people want proclaimed instead of "Thus saith the Lord!"
The church needs strong voices but we have nothing but false prophets, false shepherds (HIRELINGS) and false teachers
Sign of the last days - 1 Tim. 4:1; 2 Tim. 4:1-3
Exodus 32:2-3 And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. And all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears and brought them unto Aaron.
Unless we hover close to Christ, none of us are very far from the "golden calf." For instance, most
Churches give people what they want, instead of what they need. The "seeker-sensitive" Churches and, in fact, most all, are perfect examples of this [Acts 5:29].
Instead of Seeking The Lord, Aaron had the people make a golden calf
The SILENCE of GOD is the hardest on the child of God and in those times brings the greatest danger to one's spiritual walk!
Aaron would rather build idols than tell people the truth
Exodus 32:4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
The calf was the great god of the Egyptians. It was carried in the vanguard of their processions.
Sacrifices were offered to it, and lascivious dances executed in its honor. It was worshipped as the generator of life, with, no doubt, the Israelites being very familiar with this practice.
Golden calves, regrettably, at the present time, abound plentifully.
How could the people of God who had just been delivered from the bondages of Egypt and had even felt the mountain before which they stood tremble at His presence turn to IDOLATRY!?
Not only did they build the calf - they worshipped it "as god"
The church little recognizes the TRUE GOD, because they don't recognize the TRUE JESUS, the TRUE SPIRIT nor do their proclaim the TRUE GOSPEL!" (2 Cor. 11:1-4)
Within ourselves we ALL have the capacity to be led astray into idols - we need the HOLY SPIRIT WITHIN to help keeps us grounded and God's WORD!
When we place our faith in the Cross we are admitting that our "faith" is not OUR faith, but FAITH IN HIM showing weakness in ourselves and Faith in HIS STRENGTH! (Galatians 2:20)
Arrogance and self righteousness lead people to their golden "calfs" - We've made "CALFS" out of people in this modern hour!
Israel brought their gold to it - we bring out money to it! What we support financially shows a lot of what we believe in who we believe in - if it's not the gospel of Christ we're throwing our money at a golden calf!
Exodus 32:5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an Altar before it and Aaron made proclamation, and said, Tomorrow is a feast to the LORD.
All golden calfs are RELIGIOUS in nature! All IDOLATRY that deceives is always RELIGIOUS in nature! Williams says: "One of the great ploys of Satan is not to abolish God, but to represent Him by something visible. Also, Satan can, through a religious teacher like Aaron, associate idolatry with Christ, recognize the good in all religions, and provide a worship that appeals to man's natural heart. In fact, everything was done by Aaron under the cover of 'religion'."
Israel Rose up to PLAY after SITTING down to EAT - This speaks of them partaking of the World System and entering into the licentiousness and vulgarity of the worst order
They did at the calf what they were quite possibly doing in Egypt
Aaron built an ALTAR in front of this Calf of their own hands!
Man ever seeks to Hide the shame of his idolatry by putting it in the name of Deity
The church has set up its idols and south to DIGNIFY and SANCTIFY their inventions by worshipping them in the name of Christ.
Aaron had NO JUSTIFICATION FROM THE WORD OF GOD TO DO THIS - NEITHER DO WE TODAY!
This god so bad the Lord was getting ready to destroy them!
The same generation at the Calf perished in the wilderness due to unbelief
Deut. 32:20 says this was a people "in whom was no faith"
The fact of the matter is they did have faith - IN A GOLDEN CALF! Not the Cross of Christ
40 Speaks of Probation - Moses 40 days in the wilderness and fasting 40 days; Israel 40 years in the wilderness; 40 is a HUGE umber in the Bible;
Moses being gone WAS IN THE PLAN OF GOD! And would put Israel to the test
Many fail this test of Silence!
Exodus 32:6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play
Their "play" referred to licentiousness and vulgarity of the worst order. Cain had the right Altar, but the wrong sacrifice
Israel here had the right sacrifices, but the wrong altar.
The Lord could not accept either one, because both were man-devised - and that is the great problem of the modern Church [II Cor. 11:4].
Faith in the wrong OBJECT leads to ANOTHER JESUS and the wordly spirit that is in the church today!
Israel was offering to a heathen deity and was never rebuked by Aaron
Exodus 32:7-13
The only thing that stands between and eternal Hell is the Cross of Christ
God and Moses disowns Israel in their conversation with each other
By the use of the pronouns "thy" and "thou," we learn that God had disowned Israel here; in Verse 11, Moses disowns them himself; in a sense, the entirety of the nation of Israel, at least as a whole, had made spiritual orphans of themselves
Religious idolatry leaves us spiritually orphaned!
Millions are in such a state right now
A people who had no faith - the fact is they did have faith but in an idol!
All have faith - even the atheist - who has faith that he don't have any faith;
Many say they do but the proof is in their attitudes - and ARROGANCE is a sign one has their faith in a spiritual idol
STIFF NECKED means obstinance and meaning they didn't take the Lord seriously
Israel saw miracles but it didn't generate true faith and when they had their first TRUE TEST - their true COLORS came out!
Exodus 32:15-17 And Moses turned, and went down from the Mount, and the two Tables of the Testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written (The Law began with the Judgement of God, even as all Law must begin with the Judgement of God.) And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.
There's a lot of NOISE today but it's FALSE WARFARE!
The "SHOUT" of warfare in the church today is a faulty warfare!
This is a SPIRITUAL WAR and Israel lost it worshipping Idols and we do the same due to worshipping idols!
Our churches are not to be stages of Broadway, Las Vegas, Nashville, or Hollywood - but they have become just that
The Church borrows from the world system to be like the world thinking that being like the world will "win" the world -
That is the FAULTY WARFARE of the church!
Exodus 32:20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the Children of Israel drink of it.
The Lord wanted Moses to do what he did, in order to show the people the utter, absolute worthlessness of this idol they had made.
God is GIVING America to drink of her idols!
MONEY, GREED, POLITICAL IDOLS, CHURCH IDOLS
We are drinking a bitter cup
Judgement starts at the House of God
Exodus 32:25-26 And when Moses saw that the people were naked; Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies. Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD's side? Neither are those which are in that camp presently! Let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.
The Hebrews actually says, "Who for Jehovah?" It formed an excellent rallying cry.
Those who were engaging in this licentiousness, and those who saw no fault in it, obviously were not on the Lord's side.
That day, the sons of Levi won the Priesthood. The curse was broken [Gen. 49:5-7]
The people were both naked physically and SPIRITUALLY! To the judgement of God
Exodus 32:27-28 And he said unto them, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and kill every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor. And the Children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.
The LAW begins with judgement and ends with Judgement
3000 Die at Sinai at the Law; Fire of God both judges and dwells inside the Believer
On the day of Pentecost (WHICH COMMENMORATES SINAI) 3,000 were saved
Law kills, grace saves
The law condemns, grace pardons - mercy
The law devours, grace develops us into Christ
Grace is give ONLY to THOSE WHO HAVE REPENTED and placed their faith IN CHRIST AT THE CROSS!
SIN WAS JUDGED AT THE CROSS!
