Sunday AM Service - And The Rock Was Christ - 11/21/2021
Text: 1 Corinthians 10:4
1. There are things the Holy Spirit does not want us to be ignorant of
2. Israel came out redeemed from Egypt but perished in the wilderness
3. Baptized into Moses (LAW-CHRIST) "IN THE SEA" - Type of water baptism (Romans 6:3-6)
4. Did eat the same spiritual meat - Manna - Type of the Lord's supper
5. Did drink the same spiritual drink - the smitten rock (Exodus 17:6), Numbers 20:11, Psalms 78:15) "They were drinking"
6. And that spritiual rock followed them and that rock was christ!
7. But with many God was displeased - God purposly designed their destruction because of their rebellion - 1 Samuel 15:31
8. These things are for examples! That we should not LUST AFTER EVIL THINGS!
9. First warning: Neither be ye idolaters! Religion is the greatest idoloatry of them all!
10. "The people sat down to eat and rink and rose up to play" - EXODUX 32:6
11. Second warning: fornication - Immorality - 23,000 died in one day as part of judgement (Numbers 25:1-9)
12. Third warning: neither let us TEMPT Christ! - Questioning the word of God - destroyed of serpents
13. Fourth warning: neither MURMUR as they murmured - finding fault with the way God is doing things
14. God uses instruments but he is the destroyer at end of day
15. "Written for our admonition" - Paul was addressing the church!
16. Wherefore let him who thinks he stands TAKE HEED LEST HE FALL (ETERNALLY)
17. Spiritual arogance is a root sin of all idolatry!
18. Temptation can be overcome! (Romans 8:2) - The escape is the cross
19. Flee from idolatry! Second time Paul warns the church against it
20. The cup of blessing which we bless and the cup - "COMMUNION" of the body of Christ (IT DOES NOT SAY IT IS THE BODY OR THE BLOOD)
21. We being MANY are ONE BREAD - ONE BREAD IS NOT MAN! It IS CHRIST! - One body referes to the church
22. Paul in 10:20 shows the darkness behind these idols! - "FELLOWSHIP WITH DEVILS"
