Text: Psalms 2:1-12 (KJV)
Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. he that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
I. Why Do The Heathen Rage
Psalms 2 is the first of many messianic Psalms
Psalms 1:4 - No Matter how rich, famous, or powerful, the ungodly might be, the Lord rears to them as chaff!
Only those who follow the "BLESSED" man (CHRIST) are judged as RIGHTEOUS
This Psalm (1:4-6-2:12) Speaks of the great battle of Armageddon and the Antichrist
WHY DO THE HEATHEN RAGE - All of the church ask this and tries to solve it to no avail!
This is the great gathering of the mighty Armies of the Antichrist against Christ (Revelation 19)
"The Kings of the Earth set themselves" and the "Rulers take counsel together" - Evil always join with evil!
Against the LORD, Against HIS anointed! (Christ)
2:3 - Man has ever tried to disassociate himself with God; the first organized effort was the building of the Tower of Babel; the last will take place in same place at Armageddon!
The First failed and so will the last.
II. Babel
Nimrod founded Babylon on the plain of Shinar where the first organized rebellion occurred
It will be the sight of the last rebellion
Satan used man to destroy God's PLAN
God has HIS PRINCE, HIS CITY and so does SATAN!
Those opposing Princes with their cities (and groups) will occupy the story of the pages of the Bible
The Spirit of Antichrist Vs. The Spirit of Truth
The closing pages of the Bible tells you the outcome of this conflict - but NOT until the Battle of Armageddon
Genesis 11:3-4 - "Let us make a man!" "They said" marks the evil in the human heart - even the religious heart, not the spiritual one! (MADE OF HIMSELF NO REPUTATION)
This tower was man's seedbed of rebellion and it's been his seedbed ever since!
Babel means "confusion"
This was a deliberate, determined, enthusiastic exalting HOSTILITY against God
This is why the HEATHEN RAGE and the "people" imagine a vain thing!
III. He Who Sits in the Heavens
The "Blessed Man" and "Crowned King" of Psalms 2 are the same person, One and Same DIVINE KING
The Messiah, the Son of Man, the Son of God
2:7 - The Father gives the Son Sovereign power over the Universe
The Lord declared this "before the foundation of the Earth!"
"Ask of Me" - Speaks of the defeat of the Antichrist and the evangelization of the world with the gospel!
IV. Kiss the Son Lest He Be Angry
You shall BREAK them with a rod of iron, dash them like a potter's vessel The Kingdom Age will come in with great violence
Daniel 2:34-35 - Speaks of this coming travail
Christ is warning the KINGS of the earth and LEADERS don't side with Confusion and Don't side with the Antichrist!
Serve the Lord with TREMBLIN, Fear and REJOICE with tremblin - not arrogance
The nations either embrace Christ or the Antichrist
LET HE BE ANGRY - there is a part of God's character the church refuses to address
Blessed are they who put their faith in the blessed MAN of Psalms 1 - This holds true for all people of all ages!
Daniel 2:34-35 (KJV) Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
Genesis 11:3-4 (KJV) And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
