Sunday PM Service - Resurrection Sunday Meeting Time - The Things Concerning Me Have An End
4/17/2022
Text: Isaiah 53:11-12, Luke 23:37
Luke 22:37 (KJV) For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
Jesus died on the cross for all mankind
The preaching of the cross is the power of God
The method of crucifixion was cruel only for the vilest of sinners
He was "despised, rejected of Men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief"
Israel expected their messiah to be a conquering; God sent their messiah to suffer for the sins of mankind!
Isaiah 53 described what the messiah would be and what he would do (Isaiah 6:9; Deut. 32:20)
Unbelief sees what it desires to see; faith sees what God sees!
The modern church is being led by men and women not the Holy Spirit
It sees little of the true God because it has no FAITH!
True faith rests in what Christ did for us at the cross!
Isaiah 53:10-12 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
I. The Cross And The Curse
Israel believed Christ died under the curse of God (Deut. 21:23, Gal. 3:13)
That's why Israel thought him to be an imposter, a charlatan, dying for his own sins!
This is the root of the Jesus died spiritually doctrine
Jesus had no sin - he died for OUR SINS and OUR SINS ALONE!
The doctrine of substitution and identification is the one of the greatest doctrines of the bible
We cannot not atone for sins ourselves; we cannot save ourself; we cannot improve ourself outside the cross!
Jesus did not die for angels, the godhead or himself - he died for US! (1 Cor. 15:45-47; Romans 6:3-5)
If we do not identify with him, there is no salvation!
John 6:53 speaks of the cross being the total object of one's faith!
It's more than lip service or mental assent
The church refuses to identify itself with the cross just as the world itself refuses
There is no salvation any other means!
Deuteronomy 21:23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
II. He Was Wounded For Our Transgressions
It's a reference to the manner in which he died
It was by crucifixion
Began by the Persians, Alexander the Great introduced it to Egypt in Carthage, the Romans then perfected it's gruesome torture
Most disgraceful and cruel methods of execution and reserved for slaves, revolutionaries, foreigners, and the vilest of criminals
Jesus died a brutal death on the cross
After the scourging at 9AM (HE WAS NAKED BEFORE MEN AND GOD) they led him with two thieves to be crucified
Nails to his wrists (HANDS), feet were put together and nail driven through both TO the beam
Soldiers and the religious of Israel mocked him "if you be the son of God, come down off the cross"
Blood and water came out - of a broken heart
The Holy Spirit TOLD HIM WHEN TO DIE = 3pm (Six hours which was in itself a miracle)
Jesus was wounded for our TRANSGRESSIONS and we are TRANSGRESSORS!
Hebrews 9:14; John 10:17-18
The Chastisement of our PEACE was upon him
By his STRIPES we are healed
Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
John 10:17-18 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
Matthew 26:65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, he hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.
Matthew 27:63 Saying, Sir, we remember that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
Luke 23:32 And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.
Each dispensation has its own particular beginning and ending;
Each characterized by distinctive principles of God's dealing;
Each has a favorable beginning; has a definite test; and each ends in failure and judgement, except the final and eternal one.
God has a definite and different immediate purpose, all working toward the ultimate purpose of ridding the universe of all rebellion so that all free moral agents will be willingly and eternally subject to God, Christ, and the Holy Ghost,
This was the original plan of God all in all forever (1 Cor. 15:24-28; Rev. 21 - Rev. 22).
God the Father has no beginning and no ending - as does Christ (The Son) and the Holy Ghost (ETERNAL)
Yet Christ declares "the things concerning me have an END"
As a man - Christ had a beginning and a earthly end (temporarily) - At the Cross.
This 3 day pause ended with resurrection! he sits at the right hand of God as one numbered with the transgressors
The Cross is the central focus of ALL dispensations and testing A. Death B. Burial C. Resurrection
The first time he appeared he appeared as one numbered, reckoned with the transgressors (Isaiah 53)
The Cross is the beginning and END of all things! (Luke 22:37, Acts 1:3)
The Bible Divided Dispensation ally:
The dispensation of innocence (Gen. 2:15 - Gen. 3:21)

The dispensation of law - (Ex. 12:38 - Mt. 2:23)
The dispensation of grace - (Mt. 3:1 - Rev. 19:10)
ALL HAD AN END!
FUTURE - ONLY ONE WITHOUT END (CHRIST)

D. End of the Old Covenant - Heb. 7:21-23
E. End of blood of bulls and goats - the blood of Christ ENDED that! The cross ended it ALL!
F. Christ will make an end of sins at his deliverance of Israel (Daniel 9:24)
Daniel 9:24 - Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for inequity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
This Tim Of Grace Will Have An End!
1 Peter 4:17 - For the time is come that judgement must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
1 Peter 4:7 - but the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
